What is different?

Hey
thought to write about differences I have noticed here in Germany (doesn't go for all over the Germany! I'm sure you wont ride a bike so easily in Berlin for example)

Food:
- Bröchen/toast for breakfast and dinner
- Warm food is mostly made of: noodles, oven potatoes and vegetables
- 2xcold food, 1x warm food what is usually lunch; when lunch is cold then dinner is warm
- Lunch is usually 2 courses (main course + dessert) sometimes 3 coureses ( appetizer + main course + dessert)
- Around 3-4pm is coffee/tea + cake break
- Currywurzt (Karri "sausage") is Germans fastfood
- It's normal to have at home 1 box of water (1 box=24bottles), 1 box sprite/coca-cola/fanta and 1 box of beer
Currywurzt
Knödeln (kartulist)
Bröchen

- On Friday evnings Germans drink beer next to dinner
- Germans aren't into trying new foods
- Praying before lunch (still haven't understood the words and only in Christian family)
- Eating together
- Traditional food is "knödeln" (imagine bread or potatoes smashed into porrige and then made into little balls adding some glueish mixture so it can be stretched like rubber and knife doesn't go trough so well)

School:
- Classes start 7:55am
- One class is 2x45min with 5 min break between
- After 95mins there is 15min break
- All students from 5-10th grade MUST go outside (not when it rains or its too cold)
- No indoors shoes
- Grades go from 1-5, 1 is the best
- Counting grades are 4-6week material tests + activity in class
- Tests+activty are graded from 1-15points
- Student has 3 A-class classes, others are normal
- To pass a test in A-level you need 33,3% (5p/15p) in test/activty in class
- In Normal class it's 20% (3p/15p)
- Teacher's have bad handwriting, even German students can't understand sometimes
- Phones are FORBIDDEN in school even when it's break time, getting caught can make you lose your phone for 3 weeks
- You can plan your own timetable, 11-12th grade
- It's normal to eat and drink when it's break time, in class or even when it's a test time
- Teacher doesn't ask you when you don't rise your hand

Keeping in touch:
- Skype and Facebook aren't so popular
- Whatsapp
- If you want to connect quik, CALL!

Traffic:
- Bikes EVERYWHERE!
Kõige lahedamad rattad on sellised
- Easier to get in accident with bike
- Horse carriages are normal on street
- Bikers have pretty much same rules as car drivers; there are even road parts where bikers need to be in the middle of the road and be a "car"
- All shops and malls are in "only by foot" areas, no bikes and no cars
- Saying thank you, when someone lets you go first for example

People:
- People who you have never seen before say hello
- Being polite (f.e you step a side so biker can go by and they say always thank you)
- Everyone are smiling
- Starting converstation with random person (in restoraunt/street/cafe/shop)
- Shyness talking in other language
- Asking information about every dog you see is normal

Other things:
- Doing things with family at least 1x in a week is important
- Hobbies, hobbies, hobbies
- Grocery shopping 1 time in a week
- Tatort - German criminal show - is so in xD
- Movies and serials start at 20:15, Tageshow
- After lunch 2-3h nap time (age doesn't matter, silence hours)
- It's popular to have "sit-in" with friends. Getting together playing games, watching movies + light alchohol. Parents are usually home)
- Early to bed, early up so you can do more in one day (i dont get that one, because you do lose 2-3h with nap)
- Handiwork is cool
- If there are left-overs from eating out (f.e. half pizza) you give it to dogs
- Enough food is cooked at lunch so dogs have their own part

And that's all I can think of at the moment.. what I have noticed :)

Have a nice Sunday evning :)

Enel
